PEND HOUSE

This former gatehouse
to the monastery at Whithorn is one of two luxury holiday cottages in Scotland available for let through the National Trust for Scotland. They are full of authentic period touches and furnishings appropriate to the 16th-century building.

One master bedroom with magnificent four-poster bed, one twin bedroom with two box beds. Large sitting and dining room on the ground floor with large working fireplace, and separate kitchen; bathroom with bath and shower, on mezzanine. First floor has television/family room.

NB  The Pend has some doorways below standard height and 17th-century windows that open directly on to the street below the master bedroom; it may not, therefore, be suitable for young children.
